If you cant make the ride you can still donate.
The guys at Texas Energy group got serious about the Hill Country Ride for Pediatric Prosthetics Inc. Mitchell the road captain for his bunch tells us, we are in for the absolute prettiest ride through the Hill Country, that you will ever go on. We have everything from 1800's Texas Ranger hang outs, blue bonnets, creeks and streams most Texans don’t know about and of course the best BBQ and nostalgic restaurants’ and bars in the state. This ride will not only have you in awe of just how pretty the Hill country is, were gona eat some great food and ride for kids. Mitchell has grown up in the Hill Country and has designed a route that takes a small step off the beaten path to see what the locals love. . All in all this looks to be a ride you wont ever forget and it ends up in Austin after a pleasent 150 mile round trip. With the 2009 ROT ralley in a few days, it looks like the perfic way to sneak a quick ride in before hand. Ichin to ride early yet? I'm headed to kirby lane and then riddin!
1st Stop on the ride. Henly TX
Texas Escapes Online MagazineTexas Travel • Texas History - Online since July 1998
Henly, TX One of the best kept secrets in Texas.
Hill Country towns weren't noted for being 19th Century beehives of activity. There was plenty of work in the German communities, to be sure, but in this town with the Anglo-sounding name - things appear to have always been quiet. It was settled by someone named Henly about 1880 since it was conveniently on the Austin - Johnson City road. This area is speckled with rivers and wild flowers , Texas undisturbed!
2nd Stop Blanco Tx
The Blanco State Park is just a stroll away from downtown Blanco. It is the smallest state park in Texas, as well as the only one situated within a city limit. Built in 1934 through 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corp. on 110 acres including both banks of the Blanco River at Highway 281, in Blanco.
Canyon Lake is 20 miles from Blanco, and is a true hidden treasure of the Texas Hill Country. With breathtaking waterfront and lake views; this is the place where many are starting to call home. Canyon Lake has so much to offer: Boating/Sailing, Water Skiing, Kayaking, Fishing, Scuba Diving, Parasailing, Hiking, Dining, Shopping, and much more. www.canyonlakeguide.comwww.canyonlakechamber.com
3rd Stop Sisterdale TX/ Is it really a town of Ghost? This isn't just any watering hole, it's "The Historical Sisterdale Bar",general store, and meeting place. You can't miss it.
When you visit Sisterdale you'll want to take a camera. This piece of the Hill Country is some of the most photogenic in Texas
4th Stop Luckenbach TX Walan and Willie and the boys…..
A Texas State of Mind These days Luckenbach Texas is, to paraphrase John Steinbeck, a state of mind – A Texas state of mind, where you can kick back, relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life—like a step back in time. This tiny hill country hamlet where “Everybody’s Somebody” was established as a Trading Post in 1849 making it one of the oldest settlements in Gillespie County.
